Question:
Why am I getting the error message “Reserved or Invalid Book Number”? I am in the Change Depreciation Details to Post Menu.
Resolution:
The book codes that start with the underscore character are reserved for system-generated journal entries. You need to add it to the Reserved Available Book Codes table by using option 23 on the G/L File Maintenance Menu. The book code for fixed assets is __FA (with 2 underscores).

In this program you can specify which of the system reserved book codes are available for use during Journal Entry. (See the section entitled "Journal Entries" in the Daily Processing section for a list of the reserved book codes.) Simply key the reserved book code in the book# field and press ENTER and F20 to accept. The system automatically records the date and user ID of the operator making the entry.
