Why do I get the "in use" message in the AP Check Selection program when I try to run AP checks?

Question:

Why do I get the "in use" message in the AP Check Selection program when I try to run AP checks?

Resolution:

The "in use" message in the AP Check selection program is sent to the user because an AP check run is already in progress or a previous run has ended abnormally.  If you get this message:

1.)  Check the i5 (AS400) job queue to determine if an AP check run is waiting to run (WRKJOBQ command.)  If job is on the job queue, this job will need to complete successfully before submitting another AP check run.  If it is not on the job queue, go to step 2.

2.)  Check the i5 (AS400) to determine if an AP Check run is running (WRKACTJOB command.)  If the job is running, this job will need to complete successfully before submitting the next AP check run.  If step 1 and step 2, are not found please proceed to step 3.

3.) Please advise supervisor that an AP check run has ended abnormally.  If the supervisor deems it appropriate, the flag can be reset by going to the AP Supervisor Menu (option 8 from the AP menu) then take option 14 Re Set Check Sel In use. You should see the user ID of the locked user press F20 to release.

It is strongly recommended that the user locking the job be consulted to determine the cause of the abnormal end.  It is also suggested that the user sign off of the system prior to re-running AP Checks.

For more information about running AP checks please see the Accounts Payable Manual beginning on page 54.
