Question:
How do I save a 1099 file to transmit to IRS?
Resolution:
First, you will need to set this with the IRS, see below link.
http://www.irs.gov/taxpros/providers/article/0,,id=98045,00.html
Once you are registred with the IRS, you will then go to IRS 1099 Transmission code which is found at Option #23 on the Accounts Payable File Maintenance menu, and key in the code you received from the IRS.
Key transmission code, press Enter.
Federal I.D.# . . . 12-3456789 SSI
Transmission Code . ABCDE
Once you have entered this information, you will need to create, edit and print your 1099's from one of the options to create 1099's on the Accounts Payable Year End menu (Opt 1 for creating single corporation using ONLY box 7, Opt 5 for creating consolidated (more than 1 corporation) using ONLY Box 7, Opt 11 for creating a single corporation using Multiple Boxes on 1099* or Opt 15 for consolidated using multiple boxes)
The 1099 transmission file can be created using option(s) 3, 6, 13 or 17 based on the type of 1099 created in the above-mentioned information, see below:
