Is there a way to convert the GL Detailed Transaction report to Excel format or to otherwise save it to a file that can be emailed electronically?

Resolution:

If you have the spool mail product, you can use that to email the spool file. If not, via client access operation navigator, you can find the spool file in your outque, copy it to your desktop, and then copy it into an email.
